Yahoo promoting Internet Explorer

You must have heard of recent news that Bing is providing search results for Yahoo. Many users reported observing same results in Yahoo & Bing. Now given the association of Yahoo & Microsoft I think Microsoft will get benefit to its other products and services. E.g. Microsoft browser Internet Explorer which is till now leading the browsers world but is facing a very tough competition from Mozilla Firefox backed by competitor google.

Check the imge belo and you will understant what I mean, yahoo is promoting IE in its sponsored results when no relevants ads are found.

It was first time in last four years than "Britney Spears" was not the most searched query in yahoo. Britney Spears slipped to number fifth position this time. Below is the list of top 10 seached keywords in 2009 in Yahoo:

Yahoo goes - Y!ou - More Personalized yahoo

The new mission statement of the company - Yahoo! Puts Its Focus on "Y!ou" speaks of the focus on people. So will there be any new features added in yahoo for the above mentioned mission statement. Yes it means:

- You can add your access your favorite content through the Yahoo! frontpage on any screen from a single Web location.

- Yahoo! Mail now offers simpler photo sharing, editing and easy access to helpful and productive apps.

- Yahoo! Search has been updated today to make Web search results more relevant and meaningful.

- High-quality video calling has been added to Yahoo! Messenger for instant connections with friends and family.

- You can also continue your internet experience on your mobile phone browser through Yahoo!'s new mobile homepage. And if you are the experimental kinds try out the Yahoo! for mobile, Yahoo! Finance, Yahoo! Fantasy Football, Yahoo! Messenger and Flickr.

The brand campaign was launched in United States on September 28 and starts in India and United Kingdom on October 5 and will extend into 2010. It will reach major and emerging markets worldwide, including Brazil, Canada, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Korea, and Taiwan.

Google wars about harmful websites in SERPS

You might have seen Google showing warning message in the Google results about websites that may be harmful to browse. I also got similar message while searching for SEO Chandigarh. Warning message appeared before website named www.cogniter.com. Below is the screen shot image:




Though its good to show the warning message about potential harmful websites I wonder why Google didn't stop showing the website in the results if that website may be harmful to the visitors. rival search engine yahoo also display similar warning message for potential harmful website mainly download portals. Frequent updates by Google

Search engines are making it more complex day by day. I am sure its gonaa be a tough year for search engine optimisation professionals. At the start of 2008 it was google PR update then within few weeks it was microsoft's bid to acquire Yahoo whic was declined by Yahoo after a lot of discussions and rumors is SEO world. And yesterday I observed another update by google. I hope it wasn't the regular PR update and as just something going on at google data centers near me.
