Alexa rank of Alexa.com

I've made various pots on Alexa rank, out of curiosity I checked alexa rank for www.alexa.com and I found Alexa doesn't rank itself. Only 250+ reviews for alexa.com are available (I will also post one for alexa later sometime.

Not ranking own site is pretty strange I thought alexa would be ranked somewhere around top 100 sites. You can see various other site like Google, SEOmoz, compete do rank themelves also.

Not sure whats the reason alexa not showing alexa rank for own site, it would be interesting to see the stats if possible.

New look for Alexa site info

Alexa updated its new look for site info or alexa rank info which is displayed whenever we check alexa rank for a website. From all the alexa info layout changes this one is one I liked the most. Alexa Rank Simplified

Adding one more post about Alexa rankings. I was just reading FAQs at alexa website. And I recommend all of you to go through Alexa FAQs to know what alexa rank is along with ways to improve alexa rankings. Few things I want summarize:

1) Alexa rank is not just based on Traffic of alexa toolbar users: Yes that's true previously I thought Alexa rank is just based on traffic from the millions of user that have Alexa toolbar installed at their PCs. However its mentioned that alexa uses data obtained from other, diverse traffic data sources ( Now I wonder whats these diverse traffic sources are?).

2) Alexa rank is based on the 3 months aggregate traffic and is combined measure of page views and users ( Alexa toolbar and other diverse traffic sources).

3) Alexa rank for mirror site is counter together.

4) Definition and explanation of terms like Data Normalization, Movers & Shakers, Page Views, Alexa reach etc.

Ways to Improve Alexa Rankings & Traffic

Adding one more post to the Alexa series, here I am posting tips to improve alexa rank and alexa traffic for a website. As explained earlier Alexa ranking is based on number of times a website is browsed by people having alexa toolbar installed at there computers. Here are few tips that can prove to be helpful in increasing your alexa rankings:

1. Install alexa toolbar at your office and hoe computers.
2. Add your website as default home page.
3. Add alexa rank widget to your website or blog. It helps for visits where alexa toolbar in not installed.
4. Ask friends, relatives etc to rate/review your site at Alexa.
5. Write content with main topics related to Search engine marketing or online marketing, webamsters tips etc. People in this field normally has Alexa toolbar installed and thus this will help get little benefit in alexa ranks.
6. Promote your website the more it will get browsed better alexa ranking will it achieve. Try to improve traffic from search engines and referral websites.

Alexa ranking myth simplified

My previous posts were related to Alexa but not really were about what alexa ranking is all about. In the earlier post SEOv Blog @ Alexa I mentioned about my SEOv blogs ranking at Alexa and in the post Alexa widget not supportedI simply put the screen shot of Alexa graph. Here in this post i will share what alexa ranking is all about and how can webmasters improve there sites alexa rankings.

Alexa.com is a website from Amazon.com that collect information about the websites and rank them according to the traffic of the websites. The major point here is that traffic is determined of the people who have installed alexa toolbar only so the ranking is only of the internet users who have installed Alexa toolbar in their web browser. However Alexa still remains one of the greatest parameter for the authority of any website, better the alexa ranking better is the site. Many organization still has Alexa rank as qualifying parameter for placing ads, buying links and or hiring the services you offer.

That was all about the importance on alexa rankings will post on how to improve alexa rankings later.

SEOv Blog @ Alexa

I was just checkign backlinks of this blog http://seov.blogspot.com and I found that a page from Alexa.com is shown in the backlinks. Now this made me really happy as i never bothered to check my blog Alexa rank as I think its very difficult to get a blog in fact free blog ranked in Alexa.

Exact alexa link appearing in backlinks. I am also planning to check the Alexa trends for my other blogs and of course please check the Alexa widget for live alexa trends of SEOV blog.
